Where to act

Bandafassi and Dindefello are villages located in the region of Kedougou 700 kilometers to the southeast of Dakar, the capital of Senegal. In this 2 hamlets a big issue of anemia and starvation has been detected during rutinary health missions.

Medical Problems

Although from the first medical mission in October 2009, the population’s health standing has improved thanks to the contribution of specific medication against anemia and starvation, it is determined that a sustainable solution can only be achieved by improving the nutrition of the population now based almost exclusively on foods loaded in carbohydrates such as millet and rice but almost lacking in protein.

Development in the region

This is why it's a necessity to make a garden and a communal farm in each one of the two races so as to obtain high-protein foods that serve to supply a healthy diet to the population. With this contribution we hope to get food the following objectives: Improving the fitness of the population of the area in general: reducing morbidity and mortality of ladies during pregnancy and childbirth due to anemia and malnutrition, reducing morbidity and mortality due to anemia and starvation, to line up the utilising of farms and orchards, which are self-managed by the people of the area.
