Novices to the experience of Africa travel will doubtless be looking for tips on what to put in your pack to get the most out of your holiday in an unfamiliar place. With the climate being so different, and the terrain and animals so alien, what do you need?
What you will need to pack for Africa travel all depends on the nature of your trip. So, if you are going backpacking across Africa, your kit list will be very different to what you will need to pack if you are heading off to a romantic honeymoon Africa destination or if Africa safari holidays are more your thing.
Let’s say you have booked with a luxury Africa holidays company and you are heading to a five-star resort. What will you need to pack? First of all, you will need plenty of sunscreen, as well as protective clothing and hats to shield you from the sun, which is bound to be far hotter than you are used to.
No matter where you stay, you will always need to take some clothes to protect you against mosquitos in the evenings. Long-sleeved shirts and long trousers should do the trick. Unless your accommodation provides them, mosquito nets and insect repellent plug-ins can also be hugely useful for keeping those dangerous pests away.
If Africa safari holidays are your thing, you will need some neutral coloured clothes, as well as a good pair of walking shoes. Don’t forget your binoculars and your camera, but make sure you look after these valuables during your trip.
As with any holiday, you will need to make sure you have copies of all passports and other important documents. Take one with you and leave one at home with someone you can trust. It can also be useful to memorise some of your important numbers, like your passport or credit card number.
